—If The Climate Changes,
Everything Changes
Following growing political unrest in Chile, the COP25 climate summit was hastily moved to Madrid just a few weeks before starting.
With all eyes suddenly on the Spanish capital, WWF Spain had a unique opportunity to send the world a message about the pressing dangers of allowing global warming go over the 1,5ºC threshold. With almost no time or budget, we needed all the attention we could get. So we had to do something drastic.
We partnered with the Prado Museum, one of the most famous in the entire world, and painted alternative versions of some of its masterpieces to show the public in what specific ways unmitigated warming could change things we’ve always taken for granted.
And it worked. Beyond our wildest expectations, in fact. In less than a week, it had been featured in media from more than 50 countries. To this day, we keep coming across the campaign in languages and alphabets we can’t even begin to understand.
